Welcome to week 8 of my 10-week online oil painting course – available from 22/5/2020.
This week is City Light – and a potentially complicated, detailed scene which I simplify into colours, shapes and light.
I focus again on the thin/thick paint application: getting the thin ground on first, followed by the areas of warm tone, greys and darks. The people and buildings are not drawn – they are informed, loose shapes. They are made through observation of angles and tone, then edged by the surrounding paint.
