Description
Welcome to my 3 day oil painting course, with all materials provided, based at the studios of the wonderful Workshops in Yorkshire!
Focusing on painting light in oils, we’ll cover all my studio techniques. The aim is a rich moment of development in your painting process: focusing on light, tone, colour mixing, movement, brushwork technique and observational skills. We will look at the narrative of a painting, the magic – and what makes it sing.
We will also talk beforehand about your work, so that I know where you’re at and what you’re looking for from the course. I’ll provide you with an online painting tutorial to get us started.
You don’t need to bring anything for the workshop, other than an apron!
I’ll provide:
Rosemary brushes for you to work with and keep!
My favourite Michael Harding oil paints, canvas boards and everything we need – (plus the boards will be prepared with spacers so they are easy to package and transport home while wet.)
A yummy lunch with snacks and refreshments (let me know any food intolerances/allergies when you book!)
Whatever your level as an artist – I make my courses work for you. Once I’ve given a demonstration painting each morning of the workshop, the rest of the day revolves around one to one teaching. I teach everyone from full time painters to beginners. You will only ever find genuine interest and encouragement, as we work together constructively to help you develop your painting skills.
The course is open to any painter of any level. The full cost will be £595, payable by 1st September 2025. There is a non-refundable deposit, payable on booking, of £100 to secure your place.
There are many brilliant air b&b’s, inns and restaurants in the area – book early, its a popular place!
I’m looking forward to meeting you!
Happy painting,
Jenny 😊

Payment & Cancellation policy
This first payment of £100 secures your place as a non-refundable deposit. The balance of £495 is due by 1st September 2025. This is refundable up till 8 weeks before the workshop. For cancellations made after that, I am only able to offer a refund if I can fill your place.
If the workshop is postponed, and you are unable to attend the new start date, then you will be given a full refund for your workshop purchase.
Travel Insurance
In the highly unlikely event I have to postpone, I do recommend you take out travel insurance with a full refund policy in place, to ensure you do not lose out on your travel and accommodation costs. I can only refund your workshop place and not your travel, accommodation, or any other third party costs.
If you are flying, please take out your own comprehensive travel insurance including trip cancellation and liability cover.
Do I need a visa to travel to the UK?
Yes, the UK now requires a visa. Anyone, including children, wishing to travel to the UK will have to pay £10 for an ETA application. As per the current government advice, applications can take up to 3 working days to be approved.

A recent review, which made me laugh:
“Loved every minute of it, you have a lovely way of applying gentle pressure. Your passion and generosity of sharing your painting process is inspiring. Feel like I’ve been at a party for 4 days and am dealing with the aftermath! ”
